Vintage is a group of friends from the Castlebellingham area who sing in the barbershop tradition. We meet regularly to make music under the direction of Gearóid O Caoilte, our founder and cracker of the whip, who is not to be blamed even slightly for any shortcomings that may be apparent to very discerning listeners.

Formed in 2010 the group performs at local charity events and healthcare facilities and have even been invited back for repeat performances!

FRIENDS OF VINTAGE

Cór Saráin has been a most important and valued ally of Vintage since its inception. Indeed, many of Vintage's members are drawn from its ranks. The ladies'choir was formed in 1963 under the leadership of Gearóid Ó Caoilte. Principal of Scoil Mhuire gan Smál. In its early days it was involved with competitions throughout the county and among the trophies won were the Harp Lager Trophy and the Bellingham Shield. [The Bellingham Shield was presented by Sir Henry Bellingham in the early 1900's to the local Feis Mhuirtheimhne, held annually in the Grove field, home of the O'Connell's G.F.C]. In 1965 the first male member, Paddy King, joined the group and the choir then developed into a mixed choir. For some years it busied itself with presenting concerts locally and taking part in concerts & talent shows throughout the country, all the while providing music for church services, both in the Catholic Church and Church of Ireland. In 2001 the choir master handed over the stewardship of the choir to Mrs. Mary Price, teacher in Stabannon N.S. Since then it has gone from strength to strength and is highly thought of throughout the diocese for its interpretation of church music. It has travelled abroad on occasions to take part in choral festivals and plans a trip to Budapest in 2017. Mrs. Ann Clarke, nee Sharkey, has been the organist/pianist throughout.

Cór Cairlinne, founded by John McKevitt and Clodagh O'Gorman in 2010, was originally a church choir. It soon branched out into a diverse musical style, encompassing popular, spiritual and classical compositions, in additional to traditional Irish music. It has participated in many choral festivals throughout the country in Italy France and Switzerland., and has performed on RTE on a number of occasions. The choir organises a Winter festival in Carlingford every year and Vintage has been invited to perform each year since 2014. We look forward to being a part of the 2016 Festival on December 3rd.
